Jupiter and Saturn Jupiter and Saturn There haven't been very many moon transits visible from my location this Jupiter season, so I was happy to jag this one last night, despite some thin cloud and deteriorating seeing conditions as Jupiter sank in the west. Europa is seen bright on the disk at lower left, with its shadow on the right. Io is visible further to the right, and would transit later, in the early hours of the morning, too late for me. Saturn is improving as a target as if approaches opposition on June 15th, and I'm well placed to take advantage, with the planet getting up to 83° altitude at my latitude. Some sharpening artifact in this example, but I'll keep trying. Meade LX90 8" SCT with 2X Barlow lens using QHY 5L-II CMOS camera through Orion LRGB filters. Processing in
